I work with a variety of materials, predominantly oils, including pigments, graphite, charcoal, spray paint and the occasional element of collage or image transfer. I’ve always loved to draw, and use all sorts of materials to find interesting ways to create marks. I paint intuitively and spontaneously, focusing on gestural movements and mark making. My subject matter is floral at it’s core, sometimes recognizably so, other times not. I prefer to keep my palette limited and my canvas and brushes large. Shapes and forms will appear and recede on the surface as my subject emerges. I am not gentle or delicate in my approach to painting. I slap paint on the surface, pour it, scrape it, push it, and move it around with my fingers. ~Lynn Johnson Lynn Johnson is an American born contemporary artist. She received her BFA from Iowa State University College of Art & Design and worked for several years in the field of graphic design. A move from the mountain west to Georgia in 2000 forever altered her career path as she managed an admired art gallery in Atlanta. “I met the most amazing artists, clients and lovers of all things art who welcomed me into the local art community and encouraged me to continue painting. That was the spark, I’ve been painting professionally since 2010.” Lynn’s work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the US, and most recently added the UK. Her paintings reside in corporate and private collections in the US and Europe. Gallerists and collectors alike have described Lynn’s work as calming and serene, striking an appealing balance to both masculine and feminine audiences. Lynn brings an ethereal air and bold brushtrokes to her work, making the still-life appear far from still.
